The Story:

The Making Of The Reno Art Loft

A Dream Come True…

Facing the darkness of the COVID-19 pandemic, power couple Sacha Wright and Dave Staley dreamed of creating a healing space - full of art, color and community, to combat the negativity and fear facing the outside world.

Artists themselves, Sacha wanted to enlist other artists from the local community to create an urban oasis, jam packed with local art guests could buy right off the walls - like “an art gallery you can stay in”.

To bring this vision to reality, she enlisted local lady-led art collective, Dream Machine Reno, known in Reno for large scale, collaborative, immersive installations and art events - and the rest is history!

Together, Sacha, VeraPaints, Holly and the team came up with the creative concepts you’ll see all over The Loft, including:

  • Building color therapy right into the walls and design, so that guests report having a “boosted mood” after a few steps through the door

  • Designing and renovating The Loft employing local Reno artists and using secondhand materials sourced from thrifts and the community

  • Incorporating Reno history, like the local filming of the Marilyn Monroe movie, “The Misfits”, local landscapes and local businesses

A Peek Inside

The Reno Art Loft…

  • The Reno Boom Boom Room

Reno was founded on divorce, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find a second chance at love in “The Reno Boom Boom Room”. Based on the movie “The Misfits”, this room features 360 degree murals of Marilyn Monroe, Cary Grant, the famous Virginia Street Bridge, and classic casino imagery by lead artist, Vera Paints.

  • The New West Master Suite

It might be impossible to wake up sad in the “The New West Master Suite”. Mood boosting color therapy will raise your vibration as you tuck in for the night, and you’ll wake up energized and ready to tackle the day after a shower in your personal in-room bath, complete with ceiling mural by Reno legend, Joe C. Rock.

  • The David Bowie Room

If David Bowie had to work from home while on vacation, we’re pretty sure he’d do it here. This upstairs respite from the bustle of Reno is the perfect space to get dreamy about whatever big goals you’re currently blasting off on. Complete with murals by VeraPaints, Holly Spahr, Dustin Ring, Hannah Kellogg and Justin Siao.
